Día 9

¡Buenas noches!

Here we go with the day 9! ¿Qué tal si practicamos un poco de destrezas de comprensión oral? (What about practising some oral comprehension skills?)

I think this video might be interesting for you! Under the video you can find the transcript (the transcript lacks a couple of sentences, watch out!).

I'd suggest to go firstly through the video a couple of times without reading the transcript and try to answer the following questions. If you can't find them out, check the transcript :-)

1. How many people is he asking the table for?

2. What does the costumer ask to drink?

3. How does the waiter say "sorry" in the minute 2:52?

4. What does the customer think about the price?

5. How does the customer ask for the bill?

6.  Can you briefly describe what happens in the video?

Here you are some clarifications about the use of language in the video:

1:00 Aquí le dejo el menú. (Here you are the menu) In Spain, we'd rather say carta instead of menu.

3:13 ¿Desea ordenar algo para comer mientras espera por su amiga, alguna entrada o algo para picar?  (Would you like to order something to eat while you are waiting for your friend, any starter something to snack?) What the waiter says contains some mistakes, we'd rather say: ¿Desea pedir algo para pedir mientras espera a su amiga, algún entrante o algo para picar?

 - Could you answer some of the questions before checking the transcript? Which ones?

- Make a list of 10 new words you didn't know before watching the video

- Can you make 4 sentences using some of these 10 words?

That's it for today's challenge!

I can really imagine Andy ordering for something to eat at a restaurante around here! :-)

Ánimo, guapo
