¡Buenas tardes!
More verbs and vocabulary!!
The very first day we were working on verb to be (ser y estar) y el día 7 we went through (what I'd see as) a tough lesson: Present tense conjugation.
We use the Spanish present tense to express an action that is
happening right now. It can also be used to express an action that is
repeated, usual or continuous (we also have a continuous form to talk about what's happening now, but "it's not a crime" to use this present time to talk about those actions). For this reason it is also called the
"present indefinite" tense.
Spanish verbs end in either "-ar", "-er" or "-ir". To conjugate verbs in Spanish in the present tense we drop this ending and add the ending that goes with each pronoun (see link provided the Day 7).
Hoy (today), I'm bringing a few complementary activities:
- Complete the gaps in the following sentences (they are all in present). The ones in bold are (very common) irregular verbs. The verb to be is also irregular, but as it is familiar to you is not in bold. Do not worry if you don't understand all (most of) the sentences!! That's not the main aim :-)
1. Yo me
(llamarse) Felipe,
(tener) 22 años
(vivir) en un apartamento en la ciudad de San José, Costa Ricapero
(ser) de Colombia.
2. Mi apartamento no
(ser) muy grande pero
(ser) muy cómodo y
(tener) todo lo que necesito.
3. Todos los días me
(levantarse) a las 7:00 a.m,
(bañarse) y
(preparar) mi desayuno.Generalmente
(desayunar) gallo pinto, pan, café con leche y frutas.
4. Yo
(trabajar) todo el día,
(empezar) a trabajar a las 8:30 y
(terminar) a las 4:00.
5. Antes de regresar a mi casa
(ir) a hacer algunas compras al supermercado, casi siempre
(comprar) leche, galletas, frutas y algo para preparar la cena.
6. A mí me gusta mucho cocinar. Yo
(preparar) comida de todo tipo, y
(comer) alimentos saludables.
7. Yo siempre
(almorzar) en el trabajo pero
(cenar) en mi casa, casi siempre a las 7:30 p.m.
8. Yo
(dormir) casi siempre a las 10:30 pm. Pero antes de dormirme
(leer) algún libro o
(mirar) la televisión
9. Los fines de semana, por lo general
(salir) con mis amigos,
(ir) al cine o al teatro, también algunas veces mis amigosy yo
(ir) a comer, a ellos les gusta mucho la comida japonesa.
- Look for on the internet and write down the present conjugation for three of the irregular verbs in the text: ir (to go), tener (to have) ,empezar (to start), dormir (to sleep), almorzar (to eat lunch) or salir (to go out/to leave).
- Translate into English the sentences 1, 2, 4 y 6.
- Try to rewrite sentences 1 and 6 making them true for you.
¡Suerte! Let me know how it goes! :-)
