Día 30

¡Hola guapo!

¿Cómo vas? I do hope one day Andy finds this last challenge after having gone through all the rest! :-)

I thought it could be interesting to test yourself in an A1 level to check whether you made some progress. Do you dare to do it?

1st. Take the test and let me know how it goes. Which questions did you know and which you didn't?

https://www.tiatula.com/tests_nivel/espanol-A1

I couldn't help to bring one of my very favourite songs by Sabina to this blog. The title is one of Andy's favourite words in Spanish (Contigo, meaning with you).

2nd. Listen to it and imagine Evelita nearby stroking your arms (something I miss actually!). Could you pick any word this first time?

3rd. Listen to it again and complete the gaps in the lyrics (you can find them in your mail on April 29th). Could you fill all the gaps?

3rd. Once you have the full lyrics, and checking the translation in the video, would you know how to say in Spanish?

- I don't want

- Yard

- What I want

- Don't tell me

- Because

- Love

4th. I suggest you to do an activity for identifying noun and verbs in infinitive in the song (in the document sent by mail). Could you make a list of nouns and verbs appearing in the song? Check the meaning of 12 words you don't know and add to your notebook.

Verbs in infinitve: Llorar...

Nouns:  Vecinas...

5th.  Following the previous activity, I propose you to identify the gender and number (singular or plural) of the nouns and try to add either an article or an adjective.

Vecinas --> Las vecinas (the neighbours)

Mercado --> Mercado grande (big market)

So... our 30 day challenge has just come to an end! How was it? Did you enjoy it? Do you feel you learnt something?  I hope you did!

Porfa, avísame cuando termines esto, sea cuando sea. Me encantará saberlo.

Please, let me know when you finisth this, whenever it is. I'll love to know it.

I hope Andy can have a lot of opportunities to keep practising his Spanish. I wish Evelita will be part of that!

Muchos besos

Día 29

¡Hola, guapo!

¿Cómo va todo? I hope that, at this point, you feel a bit more competent in Spanish :-)

We' re talking about hobbies (pasatiempos or hobbies, we use the English word)

This is an interesting video in which different people are interviewed in Málaga (Andalucía, in the southern part of Spain, but you know that :-D) about their hobbies in their spare time.

1st. Watch it until minute 2:45. Could you recognize some words?
2nd. Watch it again this part and take note of what you could listen/understand from each speaker (stop the video as many times as you need).
3rd. How would you ask "What do you do in your spare time?" in Spanish?

4th. Match the images of the different people in the video with their hobbies (check the e-mail you got on April 28th)

5th Create a sentence for each speaker talking about something they like.
Example for speaker 1:
A ella le gusta jugar al baloncesto or A ella le gusta el baloncesto (She likes playing basketball or She plays basketball)

How was it? I very much liked the accents of this people, most of them are from Andalucía (should sound a bit like Evelita) but still different among them. Let me know how it went! And do not forget to take down in your notebook those expressions and words you find meaningful/interesting (But I guess you might have already done this).

Lastly, for this penultimate day I wanted to bring something special! This is a song which was created as an anthem for Rafa Nadal

This is the chorus!

"Su nombre es Rafa Nadal,
nosotros somos su gente
y cuando sale a ganar
lucha sin deternerse
no tiene rival.
Vamos, Rafa Nadal,
dale guerrero valiente
y que el metal de otra copa
lo besen tus dientes
una vez más"

"His name is Rafa Nadal,
 we are his people
and when he jumps into the court to win
he fights without stopping,
he has no rival.
Come on, Rafa Nadal,
go ahead brave warrior
and that another trophy metal
got kissed by your teeth
once more"

Hope you liked it!

Buenas noches, guapo :-D

Día 28

¡Hola, bonito!

Día 28... Wow! Evelita thought the time came for Andy to test himself and I prepared a multiple-choice test.

¿Estás preparado? (Are you ready?)

You can find the test in your mail (April 27th).

I'd recommend you to

1st. Do the test without cheating and identify those questions you are not certain about.

2nd. Try to answer the questions you couldn't answer in the first round using dictionary/resources.

3rd. Take note of what made you come up with the right questions.

4th. Share both your results and your process with me and ask me any question you still have.

¡Espero que haya ido genial!

On the other hand, I'd like to share with you a new resource to keep working on the description of a house.

https://www.spanishlearninglab.com/describir-la-casa-en-espanol/

1st. Listen to the recordings following the texts in either Spanish or English
2nd. Go back to the description of the house you did the day before. Could you improve it using today's new information?

 ¡Cuéntame cómo ha ido! :-)

Día 27

¡Buenas tardes, Andy!

Today we are going to see las partes de la casa (parts of the house).

1st. Have a look to the next video and take note of the different parts in a house/flat:

Some common verbs to talk about the house are "hay" (there is/there are), "está/n en" (verb to be), or "tiene" (verb to have).Read the following examples illustrating this:
- La casa tiene cinco habitaciones (The house has five rooms)
- Hay una mesa en la cocina (There is a table in the kitchen)
- La cama está en la habitación (The bed is in the room)

2nd. Fill the gaps with the nouns appearing in the column on the left. Use a dictionary if needed for the words which doesn't appear in the previous video.

3rd. Choose 4-5 objects which can be found in every room (cocina, sala/salón, baño, habitación/dormitorio) and add to your notebook. You can either use a dictionary or the next website
https://www.spanishunicorn.com/vocabulario-espanol-de-la-casa/

4th. Complete the activity about choosing uno/una/unos/unas to fill the gaps in the previous link. How was it? Could you guess the right option even when you didn't know the meaning of the words?

5th. Complete the following sentences:

- Hay una _____ en la cocina
- Hay ____ en el salón
- La casa tiene _______
- La cocina ________ una ventana muy grande

6th. Can you describe your place in Spanish?  (How many rooms does it have? What is there (at least one thing) in every room?) Write a short paragraph using the verbs to have (tiene) and there is/are (hay), and record yourself reading it.
