¿Qué tal? Creo que hoy es un buen momento para hablar de gustos (I think it's a good moment to talk about hobbies/likings/tastes (don't really know which is the best word in English) Although I know I like/I dislike are not expressions Andy use too much, still I find interesting to know this in Spanish (for instance, if combined with your vast knowledge of food vocabulary, for interacting when having some tapas in the southern of Spain "I don't really fancy carbs tapas, what about...?") Anyway, ths grammar structure for liking is a bit different in Spanish and English and this can help us to bring to the table a new friend... indirect object pronouns! Have a look to this video to start with! (I think they explain the "I like thing" in a clear way :-)
Once you have seen the video...
Can you?
- List the indirect object pronouns in Spanish (Watch out the pronunciation! You can check how the e sound is in this dictionary! https://www.wordreference.com/es/en/translation.asp?spen=me)
- Can you formulate 5-6 sentences about people you know about their likes/dislikes?
In the end of the video, there are a few more ways to express likings. For them, the structure is the same as in gustar (you might already have recognized "me encanta" as I have used sometimes with Andy). On the other extreme, we have odiar (to hate) or no soportar (can not stand) In this case, the grammar is as it's in English (subject + verb + object), for example: "Yo odio el apio"(I hate celery) or "No soportamos los insultos" (We can't stand insults). Would you dare to try to conjugate these two verbs? As a clue, I'll tell you they have the same ending.
Un beso grande y hasta pronto :-)
