Día 14

Hola, guapo,

Hoy vamos a trabajar con uno de los verbos más usados en español, el verbo tener. (Today we are working with one of the most used verbs in Spanish, the verb to have)

I've brought this back from the Day 10 challenge :-)

I found this video which is short, concise and interesting.

In the first part of it, the guy explains how to conjugate the verb tener in the indicative present tense. Stop the video when this part finishes (around 1:00)

1st. Take note of the verb forms in your notebook :-)

In the second part, he proposes a verbal activity in which you'll be given some time to say a sentence according to what it is shown. The subject is written and the object is shown through a picture.

2nd. See the first example and try to do the others

Here you are some vocabulary you might need for the activity. The point in here is that you can identify which form of the verb to have is the one to be used

book = libro (m)
money = dinero (m)
calculator = calculadora (f)
question = pregunta (f)
apple = manzana (f)
guitar = guitarra (f)
swimming pool = piscina (f)
pen = bolígrafo (m)

3rd. Try to complete the sentences in the following link using the proper form of the verb to have in present

http://schools.misd.org/page/open/33426/0/Ch.%202-%20Worksheet%205.pdf

4th. Translate the following sentences and try to create 2-3 more (look up for any word you need, but do not cheat on the verb form!)

Nina has a cat

Evelita has a white car

I have one Evelita's sock

Jim and I have a guitar

I have three notebooks for Spanish

You (singular) have good wine

You (plural) don't have knives

5th. Record yourself saying the sentences of the activity 4 and send the recording to your teacher :-)

There are a few expressions in which we use the verb tener with different meaning.

A really useful one is "Tengo ganas de ____" (to be in the mood for____ ). There is a song entitle "Hoy tengo ganas de ti" whose translation would be "Today I'm in the mood for you" Here you are the video with the lyrics! (Here, in English :-) https://www.musica.com/letras.asp?letra=2296599).

Evelita, hoy también, tiene ganas de ti...
