Día 12

¡Buenas tardes!

¿Qué tenemos hoy? (What do we have today?)

¡COLORES! I'd say this is one of the, if not the very, first thing kids learn in a foreign language and thought it was Andy moment for this! Here you are some basic colors in Spanish. Did you know any?

los colores - Printable Spanish
So, this could be a light challenge if, let's say, I'd just ask you to learn these colors. However, I think we can take advantage of colors to work on singular and plural :-)

To form plural in Spanish, we usually add an s if the word ends with a vowel (example: rojo - rojos), and -es if the word ends with a consonant (example: azul - azules). Bear in mind that the color is and adjective going with a verb. This means that the color/adjective must be singular or plural depending on the noun.

This is also applicable to gender. So, we'd say "amarillo" or "amarilla" depending on the gender of the noun amarillo/a is going with. If I say "My car is not yellow", I'd use the masculine form ("Mi coche no es amarillo"), but if I say "My notebook is yellow", as notebook, in Spanish, is feminin, I'd say "Mi libreta es amarilla". According to my experience when talking with foreign people in español this is somehing hard to incorporate (people with a high Spanish level still make mistakes when it comes to respect the noun-adjective agreement).

Not all the colors have different forms for masculine and feminine:

Masculine/Feminine form: Negro/a, blanco/a, morado/a, amarillo/a, rojo/a,
Same form for masculine and feminine: gris, marrón, azul, verde, naranja (you can say naranjo, but it's not a color, but the orange tree), rosa

Having said this all...

Here's my proposal!

- Learn colors in Spanish, or get familiar with some of them (let me know when you are working on this and I'll send you a voice message with them :-))

- Make 7 sentences using words you know (you can check your notes and/or earlier challenges for this) (E.g., Me gusta tu camiseta azul clara; I like your light blue t-shirt)

- Think in nouns to complete these sentences (making them true)

Let me send you this song, it's called Color Esperanza (Hope Color!) and transmits a nice message

...Pintarse la cara color esperanza,
Tentar al futuro con el corazón...

(To paint our face with hope color,
to tempt the future with our heart...)

¡Esto es todo! Mañana más :-)

¡Hola guapo! ¿Cómo vas? I do hope one day Andy finds this last challenge after having gone through all the rest! :-) I thought it could...
